1. Introduction
Welcome to CareerEssentials, an online learning platform designed to provide digital skills, employability training, and professional development opportunities for learners across Africa. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the CareerEssentials Portal (“Platform”), including all courses, assessments, materials, and services provided by AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation (AFOS) and its partner organisations.
By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to comply with these Terms.
If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Platform. By creating an account or accessing any part of the Platform, you confirm that:
- You meet the minimum age requirement
- The information you provide is accurate
- You will comply with these Terms
3. Account Creation and Security
- You must create an account to access certain features.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential.
- Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- AFOS Foundation Ghana may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Acceptable Use
Users agree not to:
- Copy, distribute, or resell course content without permission
- Upload harmful, offensive, or illegal content
- Attempt to bypass Platform security
- Misrepresent identity, performance, or academic work
- Use the Platform for commercial solicitation or spam
- Interfere with the learning experience of others
Violations may result in account suspension or removal.
5. Course Access, Certificates, and Modifications
- Enrolment does not guarantee completion.
- Certificates are only awarded when course requirements are met.
- AFOS Foundation Ghana may update, modify, or discontinue any course.
- Access to materials may be time-limited based on programme guidelines or sponsorship arrangements.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on the Platform—including videos, text, assessments, graphics, logos, designs, and software—is the property of AFOS Foundation Ghana or its content partners.
You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the materials for personal learning only.
You may not:
- Copy or reproduce content
- Remove copyright notices
- Modify or resell content
- Reverse-engineer any part of the Platform
7. Data Protection and Privacy
AFOS Foundation Ghana is committed to protecting user data in accordance with the Ghana Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
By using this Platform, you consent to the collection, processing, storage, and sharing of your data as described below.
7.1 Information We Collect
We may collect:
- Personal details (name, email, phone number, institution, gender, etc.)
- Learning activity data (enrolment, progress, quiz results, interactions)
- Technical data (IP address, device type, browser, usage analytics)
- Feedback, forms, chats, and support messages
7.2 Why We Collect Your Data
Your data is used to:
- Create and manage your account
- Deliver learning content and assessments
- Provide certificates and verification
- Generate anonymised insights for programme evaluation
- Improve platform performance and user experience
- Ensure compliance with regulatory or reporting requirements
- Provide technical support and communications
7.3 Data Sharing With Partner Organisations (Important)
By accessing the Platform, you explicitly consent to AFOS Foundation Ghana sharing your data with partner organisations, including but not limited to:
- Training delivery partners
- Sponsoring institutions and foundations
- Government agencies and regulatory bodies
- Educational institutions
- Employers or internship partners involved in talent placement
- Technology providers that support platform hosting and analytics
- Monitoring and evaluation partners
Purpose of Sharing
Your data may be shared to:
- Verify course completion and certification
- Match learners with job or internship opportunities
- Monitor and evaluate programme outcomes
- Fulfil donor or sponsor reporting obligations
- Provide support and improve programme quality
- Ensure system security and compliance
Your data will NOT be sold to any third party.
All partners receiving data must comply with Act 843 and use the data only for approved purposes.
7.4 International Data Transfers
If your data is stored or processed outside Ghana (e.g., cloud hosting), AFOS Foundation Ghana ensures:
- Adequate data protection safeguards
- Secure hosting environments
- Compliance with Act 843 transfer requirements
7.5 Your Rights Under Ghana’s Data Protection Law
You may:
- Request access to your personal data
- Request correction or updating of any information
- Request deletion where applicable
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Object to certain types of processing

8. Communications
By using the Platform, you consent to receive:

- Assessment/quiz engines
- Cloud services
- Analytics and reporting tools
Your use of these tools may be subject to their own terms and privacy practices.
10. Limitation of Liability
AFOS Foundation Ghana is not liable for:
- Loss of data due to user error or device failure
- Platform outages, interruptions, or errors
- Actions of third-party service providers
- Employment outcomes or academic performance decisions
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
Liability is limited to any fees paid for Platform use (if applicable).
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if:
- You violate these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent or harmful behaviour
- Required by law or regulatory direction
Access to the Platform ends immediately upon termination.
12. Changes to These Terms
AFOS Foundation Ghana may update these Terms at any time. Updated versions will be posted on the Platform with the effective date. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana, including the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
